The SensoCard is a slim-lined, biosensor type blood glucose meter with excellent accuracy and lots of additional features. Optional talking function in SensoCard Plus.
The SensoCard is a first class blood glucose meter with excellent accuracy and lots of additional features. Blood glucose (blood sugar) concentration can be determined from a drop of blood applied on SensoCard Test (see test strip tab) strip. As a high quality product, the SensoCard complies with all the latest relevant standards.
Thanks to the applied biosensor technology the device needs a very small amount of blood for calculating final test result in a very short time and the results are very stable and accurate. Results can be displayed either in mg/dl or mmol/l. Besides the normal whole blood calibration, upon request meters are available with plasma equivalent calibration, as well.
The SensoCard has the capability of storing the last 500 test results with date and time and it is also able to calculate the average of test results from the last 7-14-28 day’s period. Furthermore, using the LiteLink device all results can be downloaded to PC through the IR interface of the meter.
The SensoCard Plus blood glucose meter was specially developed for visually impaired people. It has the great ability of telling basic operation instructions and test results in human voice. This feature is a great help for those people who may have problems with reading displayed characters from the screen. By using talking function of the device, possibility of misreading caused by poor sight can be reduced significantly.
All the important instructions and values that are displayed on the screen are also told in human voice. Clear and simple sentences of the device make SensoCard Plus a very easy to use blood glucose meter even for visually impaired people.
The instrument is available in several languages, by request, for example English, German, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, French, and many others.

- Lancing device and lancets
-
- How does the lancing device/pen work?
- The lancing device is a yellow "pen" which works by quickly pushing
a lancet into the skin so that a drop of blood can be taken.
Before using the lancing device a lancet will need to be put into it. Hold the lancing device with the thumb and forefinger of one hand at the indented parts of the middle blue section. With the other hand hold the bottom, longer part of the lancing device and turn it clockwise until the two sections come apart. Inside the longer section is a plastic lancet holder on a spring. This is where the lancet needs to go.
Insert a new, sterile lancet firmly into the lancet holder, by holding the bottom half of the lancing device with one hand and pressing the lancet into the holder with the other hand. When the lancet is in position carefully remove the round plastic cover at the top of the lancet by unscrewing it gently. The needle is now exposed.
Put the top part of the lancing device back over the lancet and screw it clockwise until it is closed onto the other part of the lancing device.
Set the lancing device to the desired depth setting, There are five depth settings, one to five. Hold the pen firmly by the middle section with the two indentations between your thumb and forefinger. Turn the barrel anti-clockwise as far as it will go. You have reached setting number one, which is for very soft skin (it may be pre-set to this setting). Turn the barrel clockwise until you feel it engage into a new position - two, three, four, and finally five. Five is for much harder skin. You should decide which setting is most appropriate for your skin. We recommend starting at number three, the middle intensity, and adjusting upwards and downwards accordingly.
Hold the bottom part of the pen (longer section) with one hand and pull the top part up with the other hand until you hear a click. The lancet is now in position and the pen can be placed against your finger. Press the yellow trigger button and the needle will pierce your skin allowing you to apply your blood sample to the test strip.
Once tested carefully remove and safely dispose of the lancet. Your local council will be able to advice you on the safest way to do this.
- How do I obtain new lancets?
- Two types of lancets are available on prescription. Either the Cleanlet Fine 28G (PIP-code 227 – 9677) or the Bayer Ascensia Microlet (PIP-code 280 – 0043).
- Batteries
-
- How do I know if the batteries need changing?
- When the batteries are getting low, a battery icon is displayed on the screen. It indicates that the batteries need to be replaced soon. When the battery icon is displayed the meter is still operating accurately, but batteries should be replaced within the next 10 test measurements. After the battery icon is displayed, SensoCard Plus tells you every time you switch off the meter to replace the batteries.
- If the batteries go flat, will I lose the data that is stored?
- No if the batteries go flat you will not lose the data stored in the meter.
- How do I obtain new batteries?
- The meter is powered by two round cell batteries, type CR2032. These can be purchased from most high street electronic and battery retailers.
- How do I replace the batteries?
- Some people may require sighted assistance when changing the batteries.
Keep the meter switched off while replacing batteries.
The battery compartment is located on the back of the meter below the loudspeaker. The battery cover can be opened by putting a finger nail in the gap below the long, narrow hole and then levering it up and away from the meter. Remove the batteries by turning the meter over so the two batteries fall out into the palm of your hand.
Replace the batteries by putting one battery in the left sided hole with the smooth "-" pole facing upwards. This side has a lip around its edge, whilst the "+" pole has a smooth edge. The other battery should be put in the right sided hole with the smooth "-" pole facing downwards and into the meter. Once both batteries are correctly positioned, replace the battery cover and check that it clicks back into place. The meter will then automatically switch itself on and announce the current code.
